A very elegant late-style helmet in untouched condition.

Some of you may already have a picture of my helmet on your bookshelf.
page 44 in the book “Deutsche Offiziershelme aus der kaiserziet 1870-1918 “ ( Band 2 )

Ed ;
Super helmet !
Thanks for the post .
Did you own the helmet when it was shown in the book
or did you buy it later ?
Very nice to own a helmet in a book
that just adds extra value and desire to it , I think .

By the way do you know Charles van H.
over there in Belgium ?

Steve

Thanks gents .

It's a helmet not so often found ,as most aspirant officers would go for the step visor helmet ,which can later be adapted to Officer

Steve , I never met Charles, but his name keeps coming up so I will try to get in contact with him.

The helmet was in the book before it was mine.

Ed ;
Charles is a wonderful person .
He has flown into Memphis and stayed with us
then we drive together to the S O S Military show .
Last time he was here we drove to Indy for the Max Show
Brian Sanders had an open house and we all went out
to his house to see his world class Husaren collection .
Weitze was there and all the collectors / dealers
that Brian knows.

In 2006 my wife and I were able to visit Charles and his wife
we had dinner together at their house .
Charles has IMO the best spiked helmet collection that
I have ever seen . I spent one entire day taking
photos of his collection .
If he ever invites you to see his collection
do not miss the chance , whatever it takes .
It was a trip that I will never forget .
Steve

The crazy part is that he lives only 20 minutes driving from my place. :laughing6:

His name is also in that book, as one of the contributors, so your assumption was not so farfetched.
I really hope to meet him one day.

Ed ;
He goes to every Kube auction in person ,
or at least he did in the past .
I am not sure about other shows
but would feel sure that he does go to others .
However , he is really only looking for 1 helmet .
One that none of us have seen or even know of one
in a museum . We know they were worn.
Officer's miter for the First Garde Regt. zu Fuss
before the " new " silver miter
the one passed down to the KAGGR # 1
but with the "Semper Talis " banner on it
There are photos of it being worn
but no helmet to find .
So Charles is now buying U S Army WW II
tanks and restores them back to running
and original WW II look .
He just emailed me some photos of him
driving his tank in a parade .
Steve

I had the privilege to see CvH’s collection a couple of years ago.

I’ve never seen anything like this in nearly 30 years of collecting.

It’s just amazing, breathtaking (if you are into Pickelhauben)

I had to stay several days in the oxygen tent after the visit... :D :D

He is very nice and I can only admire him for his work.

GardeUlan ;
Well said .

Did you get to see all 3 collections ?
Officers helmets
enlisted pre-war
Feldgrau

I spent one entire day taking photos .

Steve

Yes! All three of them!

Impressive!!!

My focus was on the officers helmets.

Unfortunately I stayed only one afternoon.

IF
I can get his O K
I have photos of about everything as of 2006
I don't think things have changed much since then
there is almost nothing else for him to look for
I spent an entire shooting photos
I will ask
