Anyone owns this fine book?
In English or in German.
Many pics of the Kaiser's "collection" in Huis Doorn in the Netherlands.
Kept hidden. Never on display!! A shame.... :-?

Came today: An early Easter... or a late Christmas gift.. 2.9 Kilograms.
Excellent book!
 
I have the book .
It is great .
As for Haus Doorn
My wife and I were there in 2006 .
Very little of the Kaiser's military items were on display .
I have photos taken there in the 1980's and there
was a lot of the Kaiser's military items on display then .
Not so in 2006
There is the famous closet up stairs with all of his
uniforms hanging in it
I asked the tour guide about it
and was told that it was "closed "
I wonder if they still have everything ?

Indeed: I visited huis doorn as well...a pitty they show so few of his helmets and uniforms!!! but.... :thumb up: I loved the saddle chair!!!

Again jawdropping, superb photograph's!!!!!Chapter on the Prussian Generals-subchapter: Generals in the uniform of a Jäger Regiment zu Pferde: Kaiser Wilhelm II helmet. What can I say...One pic shows the detail of the special elastic band on the chinstrap. Seen on many of the Kaiser's helmets.

Another distinctive feature on several helmets:
The endpiece of the chinscales is not the normal-leather pattern, with buckle and strap. It is an elastic band attached to the right chinscales half, by means of an adjustable, sliding buckle to adjust the length. The end of this elastic strap is equipped with a small, pierced scale (oval cut-out) that is hooked on the small metal knob on the last (fixed) scale of the other (left) chinscale half. This system, which enables the opening and closing of the chinscales, is unique. The Kaiser -with his crippled left arm-could now easily open and close the chinscales himself.-

I watched the 25 minutes
A very different closet from the 1980's photos I saw
also a collector friend of mine was allowed up to the closet
and made a video of his adventure
He was allowed to have in his hand one of K W II uniform
I have a copy of that video

I think this U-Tube was 1998 ?
From what I could see the uniform was 2nd Garde Dragoon Regiment
as well as the silver helmet .

I own this book, Never on display is not right. Last year i took these pictures on the living history weekend. Only to see that weekend and i hope this year in May too.
