Hello,
Here is a set of chin scales on this helmet that look like there is something seriously wrong with them: https://www.ebay.com/itm/163992466786?ViewItem=&item=163992466786
I have never seen chin scales like these where they attach to the rosettes on the side of the helmet. In fact, one side has "squared" instead of the rounded scallop curvature to the end section. Both sides appear to be bent inward right before the edge of the rosette attachment split brad. And both sides have the 2-last scale plates of the chin scales with only 2-curves right next to each other. (normally they are alternated with 2-scallops/curves, then 3-scallops/curves, then 2-again and so forth). This is something I have never, ever seen before. It looks like this set of chin scales on this helmet was altered in modern era time. They are not normal, standard German chin scales for this helmet.
Best Regards,
Alan
