Veteran, Alfred Anderson died at 109.

Dear friends,

Today I read the news that Alfred Anderson has died at 109 years!
Alfred has been the last survivor, who has attended the "Christmas Truce of 1914".

Alfred was also the oldest living Scot. Mind you: the man has lived in 3 centuries, the 19th, the 20th and the 21st century!

I found this interview with Alfred on the internet of the Observer/ The Guardian.

Seeing this story, I can't help but think of my grandfather, who was twenty years old in 1914. Three years later, he was on the Western Front. He made it home and lived to be 86 years old, which I then thought was about as old as one could get. It is hard to imagine him having lived another 23 years. What an amazing life Mr. Anderson has had! What a generation. I wish we were more like them.
