What source document was specific about guard units not wearing numbers on their helmet covers? I know I have seen it but I cannot find the document. Somewhere, I believe there was a listing of the units which included for instance JR 109 that were not supposed to wear them. This seems to have carried on somewhat as this soldier from RJR 261 seems to display. I just cannot find the document. Help me Mr. Wizard! ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Kraus. Band 1. P. 94.

However, could also be post 27 Oct 1916 when it was directed that all green numbers/letters be removed from all Überzug.

If I remember this Regt from a previous discussion, they wore Garde Litzen only because they were supplied by the Garde BA.

Tony,

Thanks for that! I took a look but I have the new edition only. Perhaps there is a page difference? I could not find it but I did find some other things! What I am focusing on is the document that says that the guard Corps does not wear numbers and specifically which regiments such as JR 115 and JR 109 might be included. I am pretty sure I have seen this when I was writing an article however, I cannot find it. One good thing about those books is that they are extensively footnoted. I believe the document might be before 1897. I have found some interesting things about the difference in timing between numbers on infantry and artillery units. However, I can only find an a KO that says the line regiments and reserve regiments will wear a number. Nothing that says specifically these units need not do that. So if you could please check the page number. I am probably dyslexic or I have not had enough coffee. Thanks.
