Got this badge yesterday, but have no idea. It reads "VOLLZIEHUNGSBEAMTER BUER i. W." It is 3 nnches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide. The eagle is attached by 2 small prongs. Purpose ??? :? Corky

Hi corky:

Perhaps K-B can provide a better translation, but this may have belonged to a "draft board" or lottery official.

It's a puzzler.

Hey Sven,
Sütterlin is easer to learn than Swedish, but both ore too hard for me, the biggest trouble I have is that few documents are written is Sútterlin alone, I have seen as many as three different scripts and two prints on one post card.

Sven life with differing languages can be such fun! I bought our dinning room set at 0500 in the morning off the back of a truck in Tongren BE many years ago. The seller spoke no German or English, I spoke no French. We semi-communicated in some flemish dialect of Belgium. I negotiated the deal and had the set delivered 1000 KM away. Deal worked like a charm! Made you feel proud that we negotiated a relatively complex deal given that we never spoke the same language. We still use this 1880's era set.
