Where's the exciment?

Normally around this time of the year everyone is in pre-SOS fever, but this year I'm not seeing it. This is going to be a bigger show, new table locations and a week later than usual (so everyone should be more excited for having to wait). So why no excitement this year?

In your case I thought you were so excited maybe you blew a blood vessel and were in a coma. See you just over a week.

The excitement is there, just have not put it in print! I do not think I have ever been as excited as I am this year, no reason why, just want to go and see everyone!

There is plenty of excitement on our part. We have put all of the postcards together And we are dedicating Saturday to packing more stuff. We have the shirts for our table and we have arranged for Randy/Tony to be located next to us. This should be a tremendous show. Part of the lack of print is that we are not herding cats into the German restaurant. Nor are we having a formal show and tell. As a result we have not been asking who is coming. We are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn and have a suite. There will probably be some serious drinking at that location we are just not scheduling anything formal. I have to meet with my publisher either Thursday or Friday night and the good thing about the Hilton is that they have a bar. In years past there has been a demand for pictures to be posted immediately on the forum. There has been no such demand nor any offers to post the pictures that I'm aware of.

We will be serving lunch again – and I would expect that we will also have water. If you do not take your hand sanitizer we will have some. You really really really need it if you go into the hazardous waste area known as the bathroom. You might return alive or maybe not. Regularly, we store larger purchases underneath our tables. Sometimes coats also. All this is possible and I see no major changes to this year. It will be much larger. I intend to steal some chairs for people to sit in while they are looking through postcard books. This might offer our members a welcoming place to rest from the concrete floor.

What else have I forgot?

Glad to hear everyone is excited. And I have to agree I've never been this excited by SOS. I guess part of it is the new hall, the larger show, etc.

A week to go!

As part of our planning we decided to use credit cards this year – and thanks for some of your help finally settled on the PayPal system. This way I can swipe credit cards at the show. So we downloaded the app - ordered the device and waited for the show to approach. So we decided to do a test run on the system. We opened up the device box and… It was empty! No swiping device. Everything else was there but no device. So I called PayPal and they will mail another one but I'm afraid it will arrive too late.

Sorry guys, but I'm not excited at all... because I can't come over again  ... I hope you gentlemen can post a lot of pictures, so we can at least sniff up a little of the good athmosphere at the SOS...

Sad greetings from Belgium,

Adler

Karel,

We will post pictures every night. Things work amazingly easily now that the cell phones have cameras. In addition, Gus can now walk! Now if he only remembers to take pictures. James I'm afraid is always on the hunt. He stays moving and have a lot of stuff to sell. The dog and I stay at the table a lot. Will the dog does go outside every once in a while. :P

I think James will have to take the pictures, I lost my camera again, and that is just since this morning, I am getting to where I would loose my head if it was not in my hat. It is a problem when you go into a room to do something and can not remember why when you get there, for most rooms this is not a big problem, but the bathroom? At least I still remember how to get to Kentucky, turn right at the end of the drive way, or was it left.

Greetings!

Plan on joining us at the SHOW OF SHOWS from Feb 28th to March 3rd in Louisville, KY for the world's largest militaria show! We do not know our exact location, but it should be towards the front of the hall. Look for our large banner (see below) and zero in on the best photo and document material at the show! Of course, we will be buying as well! Hope to see you there!

Kind regards

See if PayPal can ship the reader to your hotel. That might be an option.

I also remembered... you can probably buy the reader at Wal-Mart or Target.

PS

Yea! Things are starting to get exciting, The biggest snow storm ever since the beginning of global warming has hit the central states... well OK not the biggest since the beginning of global warming, that began about 15 thousand years ago in the west, but it is the biggest that the news reporter can remember, so that must be really big. I do not think I can remember driving to SOS on dry roads and I was afraid this was going to be a boring trip.

Friends, I regret that I can't make it this year. The reason being that I spent my carefully hoarded "helmet fund" money on my daughter's college tuition bill rather than what it really should be spent on, which is nice helmets for my collection! ](*,) Oh well... I guess it was for a good cause. It's kind of a family tradition. My father paid my entire tuition bill by selling off 2/3 of his collection pickelhaubes and other European dress helmets. You might say that my higher education was courtesy of the Imperial German army!

At any rate, I'll miss seeing you all and will miss being at the show. I'll echo Karel's request for photos. Have fun!

Mark,

We will certainly miss you. You have been a mainstay. Having done three colleges – the next shoe to drop are the weddings. I have done those also. Do not get fooled into thinking that boys weddings are cheap.

Peter,

Thank you. We will go there. I don't think there is much hope of getting it on time and it can cost that much. Thanks again.

Gus,

What is with this weather? It is like it anticipates when you and James come. Janet and I were saying how last year was so nice. I don't remember where we put James' ice scraper. We don't have a lot of use for it down here. We considered driving to Seattle this winter. But you needed chains. They do not sell them in San Antonio. It would have been interesting however, with me sitting in my wheelchair inside the car yelling out – "hurry up Janet and get those chains on – I'm getting cold in here."

Leaving Monday to give us extra time to drive there. Another big system coming through Midwest on Monday so could be interesting.

Joe- I want my scraper back!!!

Don't rule out Vegas for a wedding. If Enid and I could do it again we'd have gone to Vegas. I could have bought some nice helmets for what our wedding cost!

And Mark, you are a stand up guy to pay for your daughter's college. My parents paid for mine - so on days like today I finished shoveling my driveway and then shoveled my parents' driveway!
