Remember the Helmmacher Abteilung? There are pictures of the helmet at http://www.coljs.com/articles/BKa.htm.
a specific type of metal helmet that we know was used in Prussia, Wurttemberg, Bavaria and Baden
.
Well, there is one from Wurttemberg on eBay.

What I would like to see is how the helmet plate attaches. Does it utilize the two holes? Does it have a single loop on the wappen? This is a real treat. Made by the same firm. I don't collect this kind of helmet, but it sure looks sweet to me.

Hi Joe:

I have one of these and it is quite similar to the Preußen kit helmet. The Wappen is secured by a horizontal wood/bamboo dowel through brass tube affair.

Be cautious with that eBay helmet though. The Blech shell is correct, but the spike and base are conventional M91 stuff. The kit helmet spike (as you already know) has faux split brads. Compare the appearance of my helmet with the eBay one.

Looks like you are right on! I wonder why his inside picture is not as good as yours? Does yours have the two holes in the front? In addition to the circular tube?

Hi Joe:

My helmet has a single horizontal rectangular opening. I'd love to disassemble and photograph it for you, but the liner and woolly skullcap are very fragile. I had it apart once and vowed never again.

The tube is soldered to the backside of the Wappen and fits through the slot in the helmet. It is held in place with the peg.
