Now this is the strange part it looks like that it is stamped R.119 but that is the Württemberg grenadier regiment with silver fittings and this helmet has 100% brass fittings so it must be Württemberg 120,121,122,124,125,126,127 or 180 regiment.

You can see traces of a Uberzüg having covered it once on the neck guard... I can also guess you've given the exterior a nice clean like for the M95 Prussian Fußartillerie Kugelhelm you once shared with us. There's nothing better than returning old artifacts to their former glory!

Hello Westfront,
It´s indeed a nice helmet and it really seems all the parts have always been worn together (especially the side posts M91, the spike base and the front brim...)
But you are right, the stamp is showing R119 and they wore there silver fittings....
It could be possible this helmet has been put together during the first months of war, because of material lack, but in this case, it would not make a sense to add brass chinscales...
This special plate at the inside of the skull (with cut out edge) can sometimes be observed on private purchased helmets (OYV or officer), because of the place needed there by the nut attaching the private purchased rear trim without ventilation.
However, this helmet has obviously seen front duty. One can see clearly the traces let by the Überzug hooks on the rear visor. :thumb up:

This should not be so difficult to look up but was this regiment changed from yellow to silver at some date similar to JR 115? My first thought was that it was an older issue especially with the chin scales. I would look it up but I am in the middle of an HK K thing :-k :-k #-o

Hi Joe that was my first thought too but after checking some books i cant find any information they have change from yellow to silver.
