WW1 ORIGINAL M1915 GREY METAL FITTINGS ENLISTED MAN PICKELHAUBE SPIKE HELMET WITH ORIGINAL CHINSTRAP
This example is a size 56½ with a very sound helmet body where shape has been very well retained. Minor scratches to the helmet body. Grey fittings include the removable spike, spike base secured by 4 spike studs, M91 sideposts, front visor trim, rear spine and the grey metal heraldic eagle. The wappen is secured to helmet body via loops with original leather wedges. Helmet body has no extra holes.
Front and rear visors are firmly stitched to the helmet body. Rear visor has markings B.L.A. VII F
Interior features brown leather liner 9 fingers. All fingers are in tact with no pull through or breaks. One small tear about an inch on the wearer’s front. Very supple leather.
Repainted Reich and State cockades.
Chinstrap is original and it is still very supple. A knot was tied round it which would have been done when the leather is still fresh. Wearer may have found the leather chinstrap too long.
