Have you ever red a story about the war in Africa?
Realy you should.
Every time I do, war seems so ........different from what was going on in Europe.
I know every war casualty is a terrible sad and otiose loss, but those African war story's always make me smile, even laugh (some times!).
The African Queen ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_African_Queen_(film" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) ) and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shout_at_the_Devil_%28film%29" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; were inspired on these events.

I am actualy reading about the capturing of the German steamer Kingani of the Kaiserliche Marine; a 45 t and 17.75 m overall length, ship.
This was done, by two motor boats named HMS Mimi and Toutou; part of the Belgo- Congo- British phantom flotilla.
A phantom flotilla, because the German Abwehr didn't know that Congo had ships on the Tanganika Lake.
The motor boats came (in parts!)by train and carriers, dragged through the African jungle, from SA to the lake.
The commander was a Tasmanian, wearing a khaki drill kilt! His ships name ment; "cat" and "dog" in French! Because cat and dog was refused by the British Admiralty....

cheers

There are so many great stories about the war in Africa. I'll compile a list.

There is a great book about the Battle of Lake Tanganyika:
Mimi and Toutou's Big Adventure: The Bizarre Battle of Lake Tanganyika
