I don't know but you might be right. do you remember, this hat from the Freiheit collection? That one was clearly marked to a jäger battalion.

Thanks for posting the first photo Joe. Here is a photo of a wehrman from B.L.I.R.1. photographed in the Vogesen in 1915. I always wondered about the "wierd" shape of this fellow's tschako until I saw your picture posted here. This is blown up from a group photo. He was in a group of men mostly wearing pickelhauben
