Felt artillery helmet

What do we think of this one? I have the chance to purchase it but wanted to get the group’s opinion of it before I tool the plunge…

Well, it is an original helmet. But the points that bother me, are the wappen, it's scepter is missing, and the kugel should also be in feldgrau.
Somebody replaced it, or fitted a grey kugel because the feldgrau one was missing.

Okay, thanks coert65. I noticed the missing scepter but not the replacement kugel. Seller wants $900 CAN; for this price, and with the helmet’s issues, maybe I’ll pass.

Agreed, the spike base is original to the helmet and matches the other fittings but that kugel top is an add on. It is always difficult to match colour/patina when replacing M15 parts. In my experience this particular colour, a sort of kaki tone is rarer than the usual M15 grey.....the colour of the kugel.

I agree with James. Otherwise it's a nice looking helmet, just overpriced with damaged front plate/wappen and wrong color Kugel.

I agree with Brian. A very difficult match to find a khaki/greenish kugel for it to make it correct.

It was the khaki colour, and great condition of the felt shell and liner, that drew me to this helmet. Pity about the wappen and kugel.
