Hello Loco, and welcome to the Forum. This helmet is odd. The Wappen Alludes me, it reminds me of a Militär Beamte helmet, and the hardware would match. I do not know. My personal best guess would be maybe a Hessian Militär Beamte, or Military Official. However the spike does not look right to me. I'm interested to see if anyone else has some useful input on this. This is an interesting piece.

Hello Loco and welcome to the Forum also from my side.
This helmet is not a military helmet. I could imagine that it is a helmet of a military association (Militärverein) or a veterans' association (Veteranenverein) of the Weimar Republic (post WW1). The eagle has no crown or royal attributes and the Hessian lion with this crown and without a sword was not introduced until 1920. The anchor suggests a maritime background.
Unfortunately, most old books are only freely accessible online up to around 1900. After 1900, most books are only accessible online to a limited extent. It is therefore more difficult to find information about this period online.
