Prussian ulan tschapka renovation

Since it is difficult to find original leather, I decided to make one. I imported leather of the right thickness and colour from Italy, not an easy task, but I like a challenge.Color comparison in the last photo.

The worst is yet to come, I'll try to make a top made of sheet metal. Now the tschapka was moistened with water once again and placed on the mannequin's head for proper shaping.

That's a lot of work my friend Congratulations on having the skill and courage to attempt it.

Looking forward to seeing your finished result (y)(y)

Well, it's starting to look slow. Now sandpaper and solder to level it out. Then putty and more putty😉. You need a Japanese spatula to apply the putty. Water paper 240, 400, 800 you must have Mr. Wojtek🤔 to level the putty. Maybe change your profession to auto body worker 😉 .
Of course, congratulations on taking on a rather difficult subject. I'm curious about the end result.
