The 1914/1915 Christmas Truces - Movie Search

Greetings All!

I have come upon a movie that was released at the end of 2005 that sounds very interesting but I cannot find it anywhere to purchase. It is called "Merry Christmas (Joyeux Noël)" by the French director Christian Carion:

Its reviews sound excellent and it covers a very interesting and controversial side of WW1.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the DVD? I don't care about the format, I'll get it converted if need's be.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Laurie

Here is some more information:

The was nominated for a Golden Globe for "Best Foreign Language Film." I have not seen that it was released that widely in North America. I assume a DVD will be out this year.

I would look at Amazon.com. It is possible that a bootleg is available online but I don't download movies so I wouldn't know where to point you to go.

A quick search on Amazon found the soundtrack. I believe the film is too new to be available for home video.

Ah...OK, it is listed on Moviefone:

It is coming to North American on March 3rd. So I would expect a DVD in the summer or fall. Or try Amazon.fr or Amazon.co.uk. The film might be available in another region (you'll need a region free DVD player).

OK, I should have just done all the research and then responded. SORRY.

The film will be released on Amazon.fr (France) on May 17. This will be region 2. I don't know if this will have English subtitles. I don't speak French but the information was a little light anyway.

No listing on Amazon.co.uk at this time.

Last year, I bought the German version of Downfall and it was excellent. The packaging was better than the American version by the way. I have a region-free DVD player just for these times.

Downfall came out late 2004, and was nominated for an Academy Award for "Best Foreign Film." It was about the final days of Berlin in 1945. A very good looking film. Probably appreciated a bit TOO much by some Third Reich collectors...if you know what I mean.

But as WWII films go, I highly recommend it!
