Paul Sanders: Author of "Imperial German Hussars 1880-1910"

:cool:Reims! Yes I saw it written as Rheims!
Fancy new display: but messed up! Going through my stack of pics.

I visited Fort de la Pompelle in 1991, when me and my French girlfried were en route to the south of France for our holiday's.
We drove right past it, because when we went on holiday, we never used the highway's there. Far better driving along the route nationales,
you see much more of the country, and, most of all, the voyage is part of your holiday.
The museum in the fort did look a lot different then.

Regards, Coert.

Indeed. I remember when my friends and I stopped at the Routiers Tabac for a snack. All breadcrumbs on the table. No prob. The Lady of the House whiped the table clean in one swift move of the arm. That was part of the holliday experience I guess. The long drive South.

No, she was born in Raumbeaucourt, which is very close to where WW1 was fought, and where in 1918 some action being fought there.
Her parents even found unexploded artillerie shells in their garden. So she, like many people in France, already knew the history.
