The Van Bosstraeten Auction

why at least two busbies lot # 4116 and #4171 can only be shipped within the E.U.?
Probably something to do with exporting endangered species outside of the E.U. (e.g. ivory, certain types of fur, etc.)
Regards,
Lars

EDIT: I checked, they are the only two items made with otter fur, so that's probably on the forbidden export list

I just ordered mine and it says will reach me in Singapore by May 4, so that is not too bad.

I have a question, they said buyer's premium 25% and when you do online bidding, they said your commissioned bid is XXX. So is the bid price inclusive of the 25% or we have to add 25% on top of what we bidded.

Thanks

I tried to order a catalogue but when I was registering....Canada was not on the list of countries :( So according to Hermann, I now reside in Barrie Germany! After a few more unsuccessful attempts and cursing technology, I gave up. Perhaps I am on some sort of verboten liste due to past sins?? Could my ex wives have been talking to Hermann??
Brian, try registering again. If I have no problem registering while in Singapore, a country which doesn't even appear on major maps , I believe you have no problem with Canada.

Hi Amy
The buyer’s premium is in addition to the amount you bid.
All the best,
Michael

For anyone living in the USA please take note of this. The 1972 Marine Mammal Protection Act makes it illegal to import or export marine mammals and marine mammal products into or out of the United States. If you import a seal hide Pelzmütze and it is examined by US Customs, it will be seized and destroyed. They do not care if is 100+ years old. It will be seized and destroyed.

Thank you! and this: Check Hermann Historica's Catalogues. f.e. Otter fur Pelzmützen are not shipped out of the European Union.

I would love to be able to win one of the incredible haubes in that auction but I don't think my budget will allow haha, I may just pursue the wurttemberg drillich and hope i get lucky.

There is no doubt prices will be high as the auction is drawing tons of interest.

I am deciding if I want to pay high price just to have something from his collection or not?

We will see

James:

I know where you're coming from.

I've been over the catalouge several times and when I put the items I'm interested in into my Excel application which is something I developed to try to inject an element of economic sanity into what's essentially an irrational acquisition, the numbers just don't pass the sanity test for me.

When I input a 25% hammer fee and exchange rates plus shipping from Europe the math doesn't make sense to me in most cases.

But, then again, I'm at the point in my collecting career where I buy things if I think it's a reasonably good use of my money. I'm past the "I have to have it" stage.

That's exactly what I keep telling Missus Boss...🧐

From what I hear there will be plenty of bids
I think that the starting bid prices are low
Let's see where they end up
