I thought I would share some info and pictures of Imperial German helmet and uniform books for reference. Been collecting for a long time and accumulated a lot of books on the subject, these are not all I have but most. Some are much better then others and many cost a lot of money, but can save you a ton on making good choices on helmets etc. The views I am stating are my own and others may have other favorites etc.

First picture is the must haves IMO

1) By Didier Laine the bible of all the books, this is the one I most go to, simply a awesome book.
2) Larcade volumes 1 and 2, both very good books I use a lot
3) Die Helme Bayern if you love Bavarian helmets like I do a must have book!
4) Imperial German Headgear, a great quick reference if you are looking up what wappens or scales etc. go with a helmet

with the exception to #4, these can be somewhat hard to find and expensive, but if you keep looking you will find them,!

Then we get into some harder to find books, that are great IMO but may take a lot of searching to find. some are quite old.

The first one on Busby's is a great reference if you collect them, but extremely hard book to find , it was a limited run on copies.

then these last few are very, very hard to find and not many people have them.

The Laine box set and and also Laine Paperback on straps sabretech etc. is very cool.

and lastly the 2 volume box set from W.E.W. Koop on helmets, each volume ahs many, many cards of specific helmets with all kinds of information.

thanks

James

James ;
That is a very nice project
with a lot of back & fourth leg work !
Thanks
Steve

Great reference books James & HerrMLO, thanks for posting!

Yes, some of these are very difficult to find, and seldom, if ever show up for purchase these days.

I kick myself for not investing in the now out-of-print 2-volume Iron Cross reference in English language. They must not have printed very many in English. I believe the German language is version is also out of print, but still available in a few dealer's inventory.
