Just got this piece this morning! M1910 officer visor for the Braunschweig 92nd infantry!

Almost bought that one myself, but for it to be related to the 92 it needs a little more than just a state korkade.

At least to silence the gun shy which sadly admittedly I'm one.

I was looking for at least a Braunschweig related hat manufacture label. If it would have had one, it wouldn't have lasted 5 min, and the price may have been double.

So, I guess if I would have had more faith that in over 100 years no one COULD have just put a Braunschweig korkade on it I would have bought it in a heartbeat and been very happy to do so.

Now all it needs is for a Skull to be affixed to the front and that would make it more appealing to the next generation of collectors and I would guess raise the price a good bit in the process.

Sorry for the somewhat negative post, but I guess I've just seen to many people messing with items over the years. Which in the process has made me a bit of a skeptic, especially when rare units are involved.

It's a beautiful cap in wonderful condition but it just needs a bit more provenance to convince me that it started its life on the head of an officer of such a rare and highly sought after unit. I'm not saying it didn't just that it didn't convince me 100%.

These are just my thoughts and not meant to be harmful or hurtful in anyway.

I still think you got a great deal on a beautiful cap, Congratulations (y)

I'm glad you've mentioned " the elefant in the room"

Congrats on finding this cap, very nice and in good condition!
Here are two I have. I hope for a proper Feldgrau one to add to my collection someday. The one I got in grey is a 30s veteran's cap.

No offense taken at all! I was skeptical as well, (it’s good to be when collecting stuff like this) you bring up great points and defiantly call to the idea of people tampering with an item.

I do agree that it does lack a lot of markings, I’m assuming it was more of a private purchase cap or an unissued cap, hence the quality of it.

All in all I’m just really happy to have it, I trust Mr. Trawnik and Mr. Schaal over at AOK, really great guys with good stuff!

Thank you for your comment, I highly appreciate your point of view! :~)

Very nice
I have not seen a gilt T K before

Hi Steve,

Thanks, the bronze skull actually need more examination. I have some doubts about this cap because it's from postwar period. There are initials of the owner attached on the sweatband, I'm trying to find out the actual person thus confirm it's authenticity.

I hope that you are able to find out who wore it .

The best HR 17 hat that I ever owned was an e m pill box Feldgrau with a double row of piping
I sold it to a collector in Calif .
Years later he sold his entire collection
Weitze ended up with the collection
I contacted Helmut and asked about the hat
I wanted to buy it back
Helmut told me that it was the first thing to sell !
IF I can find a photo of it , I ill post it

Thanks, you have a great attitude and totally understand my comments and took them in the sprint in which they were made. (y)(y)

I just want to be clear I'm not accusing AOK of any wrongdoing and think they are fantastic at what they do and bring forth every week and I respect them and their opinion. I've have got a few things from them myself. :)

But I'm sure they would be the first to tell you there is no way in the world they could guarantee that it started its life on the head of an officer of the 92 or they would have said it in the listing bought from the original family and or provided its provenance.

I honestly believe they sold it the way they received it 100%

It's the other guys who have owned it over the last 100+ years before they got it that I don't trust. ;)

Like I said it's a beautiful cap and in great condition. Congratulations (y)
