New baden haube

Not the best condition, but indeed it is a very nice M15 Baden pickelhaube. Great find (y)
Yeah it looks like someone has sprayed it black and it still has large chips of original lacquer in n places, the intent is to reshape the leather and reapply black lacquer.👍

Except for reshape your Baden Pickelhaube which can be studied in the restoration section on this forum, I would be reluctant to change any of the blacken of the outside of it. Just my thoughts on a helmet that looks pretty well preserved based on the fact it is 110 + years old.
Best regards
John

Hi there, I have been going through the restoration section picking up some valuable information for a while 😀👍,
I already had a styrofoam head and numerous clamps, regarding the refinish, my only concern was that it is rough to the touch and looks like a rattle can has been used. I have some experience with shellac as I have restored furniture. I was thinking about making up some flakes and getting some lamp black, Cheers Kirst

Looks to be quite a large size. Am I mistaken? With proper restoration of the shellac, it will really be a lovely example!
