at the moment I am in the Belgian Ardennes, (known for the battle of the bulge), but also place where the first Bataille des Ardennes was fought in august 1914,

I frequently cycle to a war cemetery where both German and french soldiers are buried, (Maissin), at 30 km.
I recently found out that the regiment that fought overhere (where my holliday home is located) is the IR 115 , hessian guards...

but reason for this item is the visit to Verdun (120 km from here) where I visited (again) the battlefield and museum with my son:
there I took some photographs of some headgear that might be of interest to the forum:
enjoy:

the 115 Hessian Guard regiment was involved prior to the events in Verdun en bois de Caures in august 1914 in the battle of Maissin, part of the much bigger bataille des frontieres: and suffered huge casualties that day...
The war cemetery in Maissin is beautiful, and mixed German and French with graves dating from the fist month (august 1014) and the last month (november 1918) really worth visiting if you are in the region

The Siebe Gorman rescue mask and Pickle must have been made for a horror film or fantasy film. Rob
