I have not been able to find the current location of the
K R 2 flag. Before the war it was at the tomb in Potsdam.
The Russians did not take it .
It is not in the inventory of the DHM
right now a dead end
Sorry
Steve

Hello,
Steve, will it be a problem for you if I ask for close-up photographs of some of your magnificent regimental banner rings?
Best regards.

Here is my Fahna ring for Grenadier Regt.9 / Fusilier Batl
It is still on the pole with the flag ; 1870 Iron Cross pole top and the streamers.
This is the original pole and was on the battlefield at Colberg 1807.
We rotated the pole to get every part of the ring for a complete view.
3 nails secure the ring to the pole.
If the ring were to be removed from the pole, where the 3 nails are, it would be bright
in those areas. Also the flange on the backside would be bright.

Dear Steve,

Once again, thank you very much for your photos and your time.
These photographs brilliantly illustrate the difference between an original, and a copy.
An invaluable visualization that explains the nuances and says it all.
Respectfully yours.

Piotr ;
If you want to go a little deeper into flags and their accessories,
Here are 2 small books to try and locate.
The bad part is that they were done in 1982 and 1986.
They were sold by the Rastatt Museum back when the flags
were located there before being moved to the DHM.
Both were done by Reinhold Redlin
3 teil I Feldzeichen The Prussian Gardekorps
3 teil II Grenadier flags of I and II A K
He shows a couple of Fahna rings

here is my Fahna ring from the pole of
Grenadier Regt 5 / IV Batl
The ring is enclosed in a large plexiglass box
that I had made to enclose the G R 5 flag
The ring reads
GR. No. 5. IVB.
I could only get 2 views of it
The flags of G R 5 after WWI were located in Stettin.
They were taken by the Russians

One of the best Fahna rings in my collection, if not the best
is the ring for KFGGR 2 / II B
It's the only ring that I have that has been removed from the pole
and still has the original old 3 nails with it.
It's a very interesting story.
After WWII , the Russians took all 4 flags of GGR1 & GGR 2 back to Moscow .
When the dealer / collector did the deal with the Russian Museum years later
he brought back the flag of KAGGR# 1 / Fusilier Batl on the pole with a unit ring
Once it was back in the USA it was discovered that the pole had the wrong ring on it
It was the KFGGR 2 /II B ring that I now have.
It was sold to a collector friend after it was removed from the pole.
I was later able to do a deal for it.
It is also under Plexaglass
These are the views that I was able to get GGR 2 a.JPGGGR2 b.JPGGGR 2 c.JPGGGR 2 d.JPG

Steve, thank you for the literature, I hope I can find these publishers.

Each flag that was new or if an old worn-out flag as replaced during the time
of Wilhelm II as Kaiser, after the flag was applied to the pole, a silver ring
with the year of the new flag was added to the pole .
I have 4 of these silver rings
Steve

These 2 rings are not mine.
The flag of the Garde Fusiliers / II B was brought out of Russia
with these 2 rings.
The silver ring is from the pole.
The flag was under the rule of Kaiser Wilhelm II given the silver ring
in 1891.

The ring of the 2 Garde Regt zu Fuss / I B
This is on the flagpole with Flag; pole top ; streamer ; parade Banners and rings
This pole was in the battlefield 1814 and battle damaged in 3 places which have
been covered with silver repair sleeves .
The unit is old and the pole carries the original ring
with a simple engraving G d R II and a very small I B under the larger letters .

Here is the flag of the 2 L H R 2 that I owned at one time.
I since traded it to a collector friend.
Look towards the top left and you see both of the rings.
They were placed back on the pole.
I did have them in hands.
I am sorry to say that I did not have the sense to take good
photos of them.
