Leib Husaren Regiment 1

Hallo,

What do esteemed colleagues think about the authenticity of this artifact?

I would ask Tony S what he thinks of the T/ K
Steve

IMO post-war veterans production.
I think that the Totenkopf is also from a later date.
I agree with Sander - the TK looks like a later, post-war version, and the general construction of the cap feels like the 1920's or so.

Uniformes once did an interesting little piece re: the Danziger TKs that I find helpful.

Jeff is that the article Eric Montant wrote? Could you email that to me please?

The deBay cap is a modern novelty, but the Totenkopf in is one of the so-called “Berlin horde” of hundreds of these found in Berlin (according to the fable) in the 1970s supposedly WWII Wehrmacht cavalry or whatever. There are two “patterns” and they are kind of like Jesus, you either believe or you don’t.

Six pages in this Uniformes magazine. Three in this book. Interesting stuff.

Tony, sadly this is the only bit I have - shared with me by another collector. But our friend Khukri may have the issue details.

The book is outstanding, especially where details of construction are concerned for all Imperial German wartime headgear!

The Uniformes image is very small - can you confirm the issue # and date? I'd love to find the full article.

No problem: I will mail you per PM
-My pleasure!
