Very dark Dragoon

JPT: nope, you are not! I was at the museum back in 2014: the temporary exhibition to commemorate the beginning of the Great War. I must admit: I was fooled by the look of this black layer myself.
-It is a silk mourning veil on the Wappen and the Kokarden.
Belonged to Prince Albert; [later: King of the Belgians]. Still a Prince: Chef of the Dragoner Regiment Nr.16 in the ranks of Oberst.
Check my earlier post on this subject.

I have a series of photos of the funeral of the
Kaiser's wife. Looking closely , we can see the black mesh
over some of the helmets.

Correct: on the Officers Wappen; Kokarden; shoulderboards; belts: bandoleers/sashes. The Hohenfriedberg 1745 trophies on the Brusschilder of the Kürassier Regt "Königin" (Pommersches) Nr 2. Everything was covered with black (silk) veil.

From the late J-L Larcade's archives I have this picture:

-written at the back:

Generale à la Suite of the Kü Regt Nr 2 in 1914:
-General von VIETINGHOFF
-General von SCHLIEFFEN

and
-Oberst; chef; the Kronprinz
-Hauptmann Prinz Oskar von Preußen.

The Kaiserin as Chef of her Regiment; wearing the hat instead of the helmet, wearing the Brustschild.

For the three Kürassier Regiments: Brustschild is correct. The Ringkragen is worn by e.g. Fahnenträger; Feldjäger; Polizei; customs; Stabswachen etc...
-For Parade: attached to the Küraß Brust/breast.
.GdC and 1 L K R 1: the trophy is unscrewed from the shield and screwed on the Küraß.
.K R 2: it is the shield-with the Hohenfriedberg 1745 trophy-that is screwed on the breast.
