The Max show 2024

I just watched a 30 minute video of the 2024 Max show.
It reminded me why an Imperial collector would not want to go to this show.
From what was shown by the person ho did the video
I saw very little Imperial
Mostly 3rd Reich and other
Did any members go to the show?
I don't know what day the video was done
but I saw very little people in the aisles
Thanks
Steve

I have been told by a couple people, more spiked helmets then ever before. Including one table full of rare helmets being sold for someone else at great prices that went very fast.

I have not gone since Pittsburg, maybe in the future, who knows.

Thanks for the information
I guess the video fellow had no interest
in spiked helmets
I did not see Weitze's table in the video
if the helmets were good and the prices low
a dealer could buy them for resale

It's definitely a predominately WW2 show which can sometimes work to our benefit. You have to find that rare seller who sets up to sell a collection and is not a professional dealer.

But make no mistake every dealer is already there during set up day doing just that and by the time the public is allowed in the best deals are long gone. Some may already be on the dealers' tables at a slight premium, but most will wait a bit and put up some new "Celler finds" for sale at a later date.

Thanks just the way of the world and has been as long as there has been shows. Most dealers also have several "pickers" at the show to help hunt down any deals. It's not for the faint of heart, there's a lot of competition no doubt.

But sometimes you can get lucky (y)(y)

Weitze and his workers move past
Most of the time Weitze leaves his table covered up
so he can hunt.

No doubt, I saw him several times buying some items. He is certainly not the only one, it's just how it goes and always has.

I did notice this year many European dealers buying and spending tons of money even more than usual. I also heard several US based sellers complaining about all the good items going overseas. I personally don't get that but I'm sure people have their reasons.

I also know of European dealers and collectors who feel the same way when good items come to the US.

It all goes round and round and I just keep trying to find a nice piece or two for my collection at a decent price like everyone else.

Nothing new ;)

I have not beeen to the MAX for years, it used to be just a 6 hour drive to Pburg but I would have to look up the new location on a map. James and I have talked about meeting up there but he has to retire first! :)

I have watched most of the videos.
Everybody almost to a person skips the spikes.
I wish there was an Imperial collector who would make a video on one or any of these shows.

I'm only an hour from York, so feel obligated to check it out...but almost always leave dissapointed. Predominantly TR/Nazi stuff, lots of what feels like army surplus (the mothball smell was noticable even in the lobby this year), and tons of weird and questionable items. Nothing for me this year (although I am super picky quality-wise, so admittedly that limits the field.)

Even our friend Mr. Weitze caters mostly to the TR crowd at this one. I did see Randy Trawnik from AoK there with a small table - I wonder if that was the reported spiked helmet batch? He confirmed that they almost never attend but I gather that there was some special circumstance that made them participate this year. But overall, it isn't even close to the SOS. (My opinion).

I like collecting WWII German stuff, specifically Deutsches Afrika Korps items, but I hate how Third Reich collecting dominates the German militaria field. Imperial German collecting definitely deserves more attention.
