The chin scales appear to be flat when all mounted troops wore convex (curved) scales. Flat scales were worn by infantry units.

Yes, unfortunately the chin scales are incorrect.
They must be curved...see pictures

I think the posts may be wrong as well. Shouldn't the ends be curved instead of pointed?

This helmet is ALL wrong...

Just look at the stamping inside the shell....it say 1916. Therefore it should be a M15 helmet. It should have NO brass on it. Its a pieced together jager zu pferde helmet.

BUT.....all you need is a steel jager zu pferde clover shaped base with a spike and a couple of m15 side post, and Voila, a nice m15 helmet !

Spiker said it best I think. It is far more wise to come here first before you buy, to avoid pieces like this.
Taking that step could help avoid bigger mistakes in the future.
