I started collecting german helmets, so far I have 2 original wermacht helmets, an original ww2 german Falschirmjäger helmet, an original m16 ww1 Stahlhelm, and an original waffen ss helmet. Recently I wanted to buy a pickelhaube and came across, this Bavarian Kronprinz Rupperecht 6th armee Pickelhaube, can someone clarify if this is real, before I make the purchase. Please find pictures attaced, and if possible if someone knows more about this pickelhaube, please share.1000011335.jpg1000011336.jpg1000011334.jpg1000011337.jpg

Unfortunately it’s not original. Instead, it appears to be an Indian made “reproduction” that has been dressed up to look old. Painting the wappen green seems to be a common practice by that seller, this is the second one I’ve seen like this (the first one was purchased by someone!). Stay away from this one!

Thanks a lot, one more quick question, because the writting inside is what made me believe it was real, so you are saying that this was also replicated.

yes, the writing is also complete bogus. For future reference, two things for look for on these Indian helmets, are Spike shape and Wappen (front plate) shapes.

For example, the spike should be shaped something like this on a helmet such as this one, notice how it is wider and more 'pronounced' than the other.

And as for the Front plate, it should look like this, rather than being very squated and compact looking on the fake.

I stress the fact that this is only very basic, and to identify only the worst of fakes, and under no circumstances does this always apply, but is may help in the future when looking at pieces.

I have not looked over the Prussian Rang list
but as far as I know Bavarian Kronprinz Rupperech was only in the Prussian heavy cavalry regiment
1 L K R 1 , hich has a totally different helmet than what is offered .Steve McFarland
