I saw this posted on Facebook .The person who posted it wants to know more about the fallen soldier.
I know that we have members that do great research.
Can someone help to find more about this soldier?
Steve
I found this temporary grave marker in a field in a nearby village. I would have liked to know more about this soldier, unfortunately I found nothing. Could you help me?

Hi Steve,
in the casualty list of Inf.-Rgt. Nr.116 (1st Company) a Theodor Henn is only listed as wounded & missing:
https://des.genealogy.net/eingabe-verlustlisten/search
But I suspect that it might be him!?

Inf.-Rgt.116 was on the march to the Marne from 18. August to 6. September 1914 (from 22. August at Anloy, via Jehonville to Acremont.
And 24./25. August through the Ardennes via Assenois-Herbeumont-Muno to Messincout).

Great! Still the date on the grave marker. Volksbund says Uffz Karl HEUN on that date! 24 08 1914. What Regiment??

I would like to own that item,
this happened in the battle of the ardennes (la bataillon des frontiers), in the first month of the war, a very bloody episode of the war,
two days before was the deadliest day for the French army (27.000 french soldiers killed on 22 august 1914) , all very near our holliday house in the ardennes.

If you can find the Facebook page, you can ask the fellow that posted it
IF he is the owner and if so, would he sell it ?
It never hurts to ask.

You will like that group Michiel. Anyway, the guy found that gravemarker in Anloy, a village nearby the village the guy who found it lives.
You might know that village too, if your vacation destiny is nearby too.
