Two more lots in the Thies auction
One pair sold as Saxon Medical General for 3100 Euro before commission
they look correct to me, but I have little reference on them
the next pair are called Saxon General. They don't look like the Saxon Generals
epaulettes once they became part of the Prussian Army ?
Could they be earlier period? I don't see any Saxon tressa on them?
Any members have any thoughts about them?
There is a handwritten label on the box, but I can't read it
They sold for 1100 Euro, so some doubts about them?

Hi Steve!

100% Ok and I have the same opinion as Glenn. Nice and old version pre 1867.
The condition are great and the set (box & epaulettes) was always together.

Label:
Generals Epaulettes
Garnitur ...
...

To be able to read the rest I would need a larger image.

Regards
Matthias

These Epaulets came as well the Pickelhaubes from an old collection of already deceased German collector.

Thies will only be auctioning a small number of items from this large collection over the next few years...

I think that he named the collector on some of the items?
Steve

Yes, indeed.

His name was Karl Sauer from Jülich.

He passed away last year.

Best wishes,

GardeUlan
IF he is the same collector
A collector friend told me that earlier on he had
collector friends visit him
but then someone stole part of his collection
after that no more visitors

Hi Steve,

It really is very sad to take advantage of an elderly person. On the other hand, he did have enough collectables left for the enjoyment and benefit of those who inherited his collection.

Cheers, C
