The 1905 Rangliste shows a "von Brinden" among the reserve officers for DR26 - I wonder if that's your guy?

He might also have a reserve cross in the bottom kokard

Ok, so why is his collar and schirmmutze a dark color in the photo? The 26th dragoons were yellow correct? Is the photo him in his Saxon uniform?

In many b&w images from the period, yellow registered very dark, almost black. Its a good way to tell if cuff/collar litzen or hussar frogging is white or yellow in period photos.
