DR 19 officer which is my avatar here. I have owned this since the mid 80's. The spike and base are marked 08 underneath and obviously this indicates "silver plated". Unfortunately, a lot of this plating has been polished off the cruciform arms of the base. However, the interior liner is excellent and the helmet is in very good condition over all. Note: the chin scale knob is missing and has been replaced with a soldered piece of brass wire.

To me the Oldenburg Dragoon Regt 19 officers straps are really interesting .
The pre war examples have the white underlay with the silver tressa .
When the M1915 came out and all of the Dragoon regiments went to the blue underlay
the white was no longer used but they kept the silver tressa

Beautiful examples Steve, I am just glad that you had a spare to sell me. I will post mine tomorrow! Recently, there was a DR 19 OR's sold by Military Antiques Toronto which went for $2,700. I had seen this piece many times at the main Toronto Show every year as the owner used to display his Imperial items. It was roached as far as I was concerned, dried up and shrunk to a size where even a baby couldn't wear it. However, it was complete and some collector bought it.

My small Oldenburg squad: DR19 officer schirmmutze, IR91 officer pickelhaube (with a beautiful, knobby Oldenburg star). Still looking for a quality DR19 OYV/Fähnrich/Officer helmet if anyone has one they'd part with!

I translate:
Nicolas Frédéric Pierre de 0ldenburg was Grand Duke from 1853 to 1900. He allied himself with Prussia in 1866, and by agreement of July 15, 67, the 0ldenburg contingent was integrated into the Prussian army in the 0JR91. During the fighting around Metz, the 0JR91, I.D.37, A.K.X, suffered heavy losses, following the failure of the Tronville wood attack on August 16. (Battle of Mars-La-Tour).

At the end of August 1870, the Grand Duke arrived at the encirclement of Metz, to join Frédéric-Charles and the troops of his Grand Duchy. On August 29, he and his son Kronprinz Frédéric-Guilaume moved into the house of the mayor of Bronvaux (a farmer), Monsieur Boulier's farm.

The cast-iron commemorative plaque on the façade of 13 rue haute:
During the siege of Metz in 1870, the Grand Duke Nicolas Frédéric Pierre d'Oldenburg and his son, the heir Grand Duke Frédéric Auguste, lived in this house.

This commemorative plaque was affixed on July 21, 1900 and solemnly inaugurated on July 24 (Bronvaux was in annexed Lorraine at the time). It was removed after the Armistice of November 11, 18 and has since disappeared.

IMO , for some reasons an original enlisted D R 19 helmet
is much harder to find than an officers , however condition is a factor
that seems a high price for a bad condition helmet

Too bad that no one knows what happened to the plaque
That would be wonderful to have back on your house
As you may know, after the Franco -Prussian War of 1870-71
added to the flags of the units that were in that battle were the 1870-71 KDM streamers
a small battle honor of Mars-La-Tour was added to the streamer and also others that the unis
fought in .Some of the 1870-71 KDM streamers in my collection carry the Mars-La-Tour
battle honor plaques .
