Prussian Garde Train Berlin

Here is a photo of a 1 year volunteer of the
Prussian Garde Train in Berlin
for his appearance in the photo
he is outfitted so sharp
that it looks like he had the money
for private purchase of his Waffenrock and helmet
which looks brand new .
This photo reminds us why we collect these items .
I understand that the 1 yr vol had to purchase his own
uniforms , but some I think bought them from the Kammer

Yes, some OYV bought some equipment from the Kammer! For example, their Diensthelme which were full normal EM helmets and which were the only helmets which were allowed to be worn during duty in the garrison, gards, parades and manoeuvres in the field. They bought them or could also rent them for their one year period of duty. Those fancy shiny helmets like the one on this pict were only allowed to be worn outside of the garrison, in the town.

This one in my collection is nothing special rank wise but the color and condition are nice, but I really love the blue and white color combination.

Maybe it's being half Bayern blue and white have always held a special place even if worn by a Prussian unit.
