today, at the museum of " EBEN EMAEL" in Belgium, I collected my recently bought IR115 from Tony V , that was discussed recently on this forum, having it in hand it is a beauty,

it is an example from mainz 1915 as discussed on the forum

as tony already posted detailed photographs I just will show it with the book of his writing (that he gave to me and my sun) and on his new spot.

As said before I especially like this regiment because it has one of the most beautiful helmet plates , (the Hessian lion, its banner and guard star) but also this regiment fought a terrible battle near our beloved holliday house and I visit the graveyard with german and French graves in Maissin very often.

during the battle of the frontiers on 22 august 2014 on a single day the french lost 27.000 killed in action!! (more than the british did on the first day of the battle of the somme), and this hessian regiment lost an enormous amount of men (I'll try to look up the number)

dear Gino,

as I try to collect all countries of ww1 I have some more Belgian stuff ,(I'm Dutch but I lived in Belgium for 12 years to study and specialise, and feeling very connected to it we still have a house in the ardennes up to this day.

the Belgian shako on the left might be a combination of french and Belgium components, so is not 100% straight , but I tolerate it because I bought it als a 18 year old, (35 years ago) so feel attached to it... (not on the Photo's I als have a Belgian Adrian helmet en a great grenadier bearskin cap)
the casque reine Elisabeth is not in great shape, (not mothers finest) but I was also able to buy it as a student >30 years ago,
it was very cheap, but still pricy for the 'poor' student I was,
a very well known collector really urged me to buy it saying I would never regret it, of course he was right, and it remains one of my favorites.

Michiel

Great day at the fort !
