GK and GdC helmets

I noticed two rather nice enlisted mans Garde parade helmets on Weitze. He’s been able to acquire a good deal of these this year. I wonder if so many helmets are available due to older people selling off or dying.

Im not expert on the prices but feel these may be available in the USA for less but thats just speculation by someone who knows very little, ME…

I noticed that too - but coming from Germany, the price is distorted by the exchange rate (with the dollar much weaker than a year ago). So many fakes in this space too. I wonder what others thought about these two? The more expensive one seemed to have nice GKR markings, but my knowledge is very limited on these bird helmets.

I think someone is selling off or has sold off a Curassier collection as I notice condition is similar on a lot of the helmets with respect to the exterior patina. I spoke with them about a helmet I purchased a while back and they told me more will be coming later in particular one helmet which was listed not long ago which I was able to purchase (ouch the exchange rate to Canadian really sucks!). I see the similar style helmets now filtering into the website.

It's hard to believe how fast nice helmets sell and how much money some collectors can spend. I wish I could spend a couple of grand every week for another brick in the wall.

My wife would change the locks when I went for a cappuccino. :ROFLMAO::LOL:
 
I find, particularly with GdC and GKR helmets, there are ebbs and flows in their availability. As it has been noted there have been a lot more popping up as of late. I watch these helmets closely and 3-4 years ago they were in short supply. There may have been a few offerings but not as many as of late. I also attribute the lack of circulation of these helmets to the fact that many can't be "upgraded". That is to say once a collector has obtained one there is very little chance they will try to go out and get a better example so the limited pool becomes even more limited. I have no doubt that as some of big whale cavalry collectors age and begin to dissolve their collections you will suddenly find a large influx GdC and GKR helmets come to market.
