Ventilation system

Very cool. Thank you for sharing, Amy. Also interesting that it seems there were metal inserts in the holes for the eagle before, like the enlisted men’s helmet M1895 has. I have a Saxon officer helmet which has these inserts too.

Very interesting, dear Amy !! My identical Teller helmet, with a guillotine vent, is found on an old helmet from the expeditionary force in Southeast Asia.BA0 après-.JPGBA0 coiffe après.JPG
In fact, this is a helmet that returned from Asia and was reused as a replacement during mobilization, probably assigned to a Reichsgendarme. It has lost its special "Ostasiatische" spike and been replaced with a standard Prussian spike, but with this "Teller" (a type of helmet) with a sealing cap.
The Reichsadler no longer has a vertical clip, but a screw-and-nut fastening, like the helmets of the Reichsgendarmes. The green felt that covered the shell has been removed. However, it still has its green visor with a rim, but without the metal trim.

There's a slight difference between the two: one has a long central joystick, and the other has a side button. Otherwise, they're identical!

I saw several picture 's of the same ventilation system in the books by Michael Baldwin all were in the ostasiatische area, if.my memory serves me right. I no longer have those books anymore, gave them away to a starting collector years ago.

Yes, and we also find such a principle in Troppenhelm made of cork covered with beige or white fabric.V The previous ones were for a fixed spike. Below, this refers to the system for the screw-on or screw-off crest button (Troppenhelm) or for replacing it with the spike.

Here's a discreet ventilation system for officers. It's the same principle as the M95 "Kammer" for enlisted men, but the vent is only visible from the inside. Externally, the rear spine is standard for officers. This, too, is a unique or understated system.0ff aeration tropicale.jpg0ff aeration tropicale Ppara.jpg This beautiful helmet belongs to a friend from Alsace.

I have posted this helmet before but thought it might be applicable and interesting. A Bavarian officer helmet with a unique ventilation system. The base of the spike with the pearl ring turns which opens or closes the vent holes in the crucifix arms mechanically.

Thanks for sharing, Dave.
An incredibly difficult helmet to make. Definitely a high-quality Eigentum for a wealthy officer.
