I’m offering a Saxon officer’s Pickelhaube of the Landwehr infantry from around 1914 in a pretty good condition.
However, although the helmet consists of original parts which are correct for such a helmet, it was restored due to some larger paint chips and some broken bolts. The cockades, the rosettes and the reinforcement disc inside the helmet weren’t correct for such a helmet and have been replaced. The liner and the stichings of the helmet shell on the other hand were in a very good condition and are untouched.
The restoration has been done by Wojtek. For the paint job he used an original 19th-century paint recipe for military black leather lacquer. A description of the restoration work including photos will be delivered with the helmet as documentation. Even though I'm not a professional restorer, I tried to document the restoration professionally. I don't want to hide anything and want to give the buyer honest and comprehensive information.
I’d like to ask for 1450€ (1710$) + shipping, but I’m open for fair offers.
