Hello. Here is my other small, modest collection. Unfortunately, my cabinet is now too small for everything. Personally, I don't think the setup turned out that well—I might change it later. Enjoy looking!

I think it looks great! A very nice cross section of helmets and busbies! And yes, space is the bane of collectors. Once space is gone decisions have to be made....

I've been thinking, especially since the impressive collection Doug showed us this week, about people describing their collection as small or modest. It's of course all dependent on how you look at it. We're lucky that in this forum community there are quite a lot of members with huge and beautiful collections who let us have a peak of what they brought together. But apart from time, dedication, research and networking, also financial resources are of course an important part when building a collection of nearly anything.

When I was a student and shortly afterwards, for many years I bought almost exclusively death cards on German ebay. Cause for 10 or 20 euro a week I could buy several cards and it was a great way of having fun with the "hunt", researching (to a small extent) the stories of the soldiers and that with the budget of a young man. Between my first and second Pickelhaube were 4 years. I just want to say: I enjoy every item and collection shown here. We're all interested in the same fascinating period of time and these great pieces of headgear that were witnesses of those amazing events.

So I just want to take the opportunity to thank every single one here that participates regardless of how big your bunker is and how long you've been collecting.

Hi there; that’s exactly right—everyone makes do with the resources they have, no matter how big or small their collection might be. I really enjoy taking a look around every day; sure, some people have magnificent collections while others have much more modest ones, but for all of us, only one thing counts: the hobby we pursue with such pleasure—regardless of the collection's value or the size of our bank balance.
