Extra holes neck guard

I came across this older type which has two extra holes in the neck guard, on both sides of the spine. Any modiciatipn that could have happend here or just someone who hang the helmet on his wall this way at some point in time?

La spiegazione più semplice da pensare è proprio quella che hai detto. Molto spesso ho trovato elmetti che sono stati forati per appenderli alle pareti o a qualche trave in legno del soffitto.

Hi Jurgen,
That’s exactly it, in my opinion.
I’ve owned various helmets in the past that also had those small holes in the neck area.
I mostly found them in Belgium.
They were often hung up in pubs in the years after the war as decorations in that manner.

Thank you both to confirm my hypothesis.
The holes are a bit of a pity but no dealbreaker to me. Here another picture from the inside.

Let's see if I can reach an agreement on the price.

If the helmet is otherwise in good condition and the price is reasonable, I wouldn't really hesitate.
After all, it is a piece of (Belgian) history, too...
