Hes fairly well known amongst British collectors, but still maintains that magic 100% feedback record..very strange. Don`t know about the birdy, but I wouldnt buy it on principal! Andy

If it is a landgendarmerie helmet which the markings seem to imply, it has had the wappen replaced at some point in the past. There is an earlier post regarding LG helmets and I had a very similar issue with my own LG helmet, which also came with a Guard wappen and not a Guard grenadier wappen...

Is this not the wrong wappen for Land Gendarmerie? I thought they were issued with the Grenadier wappen (the one with the curly hand guard) This seems to be a guard eagle. Andy

I can`t comment on the tunic piping, but I have dealt with this seller and hes pretty straight. He has an online shop also. The items I have had from him are all as described, sometimes a little pricey but hey. He even marked my items as a gift, without me asking. I would certainly trust him and...

I`m really not convinced that this wappen is original. It looks like it has a brown wash over it to age it. it looks like its been painted and rubbed to remove high areas of paint and the writing looks like its been re done, badly with a black wash. That`s not to say it isnt an original plate...

I have one of these, also missing the star and with the holes in the same position. I was never able to find a star that matched the holes in this position, so I gave up and bought a complete eagle with star instead. The one I have certainly seems original and this one looks ok as well, but why...

Its black isnt it? Its a Prussian one so possibly original, but not to this helmet, which I reckon was born somewhere other than Germany Andy

I dont like the shape of the helmet or the shape of the spike..it just looks wrong. The wappen looks bad also Andy
