Yup... as you suspected.. painted chinscales... thankfully the spike hasn't been painted.. anyone have a decent chinstrap for sale.. scales have to go

Yes it came from Kijiji in Ontario.. I will find out tonight if any parts have been painted.. some carefully applied thinner will solve that In the long run I didnt pay enough for it to make me cry.. the knowledge gained is worth more than money. I thank you all for your expertise

Thank you for your information. Do you think it would worth restoring back to an enlisted mans helmet. I can probably buy it for under $100. The leather itself seems to be good construction
