Hessian FAR25 Officer Helmet 1915 model with the swords

Hello, thanks for sharing. Extraordinary!
Yes, normally Louis' star is screwed diagonally, like the lion's body.
Infra, only 2 diagonal screw-nuts.
Exclusive to FAR25. This diagonal can even be seen on some FAR25 troops (without star) M95/14 (brass) or M15 (grey steel).

Amy; Great helmet! I have a question about the ball top. It appears to be oval and not round, is this because it is an officers helmet? Can I assume EM helmets would have round ball tops? Are you leaving any artillery helmets for the rest of us?

This is a private purchase fantasy. The same goes for the vent cover. Here it's a domed cover, like on infantry bolt-ons. Artillery lids were flatter, with bumpy circles.

HI Dick,
I come across officer helmets with round and oval shaped kugels. The EM helmets have more standard round balls.

Don't worry about leaving the helmets for you guys, there are still plenty lying around. We just have to find them. :)

While we are on Hessian artillery, can anybody explain why some helmets have 2 domes on the rear spine while some do not? Does it have anything to do with pre-war vs wartime?

In fact, the Hessian officer's helmets are a continuation of the old type of rear spine of the Prussian "troop" dragon helmet. Prussian "troop" dragon helmet. These 2 rivets remained until the outbreak of war, but disappeared from later production (Neuer Art).

Steve, you never fail to impress me with your collection.
Amy
My FAR 25 was at an S O S show for sale
A friend of mine from Europe bought it
I missed it
but later I had something that my collector wanted
so we did a trade
If I remember correctly
Alan S. said that he had know about the helmet
for some years and tried to obtain it from the owner with no luck ?
The first FAR 25 officer I bought years ago was $250.00 U S Dollars
hard to come by in those days
It came with a correct thricter and black buffalo hair bush
now that I look back on it
I wonder if a 1915 helmet was still using a parade bush ?
But I have no doubts about the helmet it's self
I sold it , along withe other 2 Hessian helmets circa 1992
when I made the move to collect only Prussian helmet
that was a big mistake
