This is a private purchase fantasy. The same goes for the vent cover. Here it's a domed cover, like on infantry bolt-ons. Artillery lids were flatter, with bumpy circles.Amy; Great helmet! I have a question about the ball top. It appears to be oval and not round, is this because it is an officers helmet? Can I assume EM helmets would have round ball tops? Are you leaving any artillery helmets for the rest of us?

In fact, the Hessian officer's helmets are a continuation of the old type of rear spine of the Prussian "troop" dragon helmet. Prussian "troop" dragon helmet. These 2 rivets remained until the outbreak of war, but disappeared from later production (Neuer Art). While we are on Hessian artillery, can anybody explain why some helmets have 2 domes on the rear spine while some do not? Does it have anything to do with pre-war vs wartime?
