The story of the Killer Beast from India

Great stuff! Actually it's the hide of an Asian leopard of which species the black leopard(panther) is a color morph. Even today leopards are responsible for an incredible number of human deaths and disappearances in India. What the heck, there are a hell of a lot more people in India than...

    63rd

I would suggest Hermann Cron's "Imperial German Army 1914-1918 : Organization, Structure, Orders-of-Battle". His section on Artillery goes into a good deal of detail as to weapon distribution. Knowing where the 63rd was engaged (theatre) and at what period, this work should be able to give you...

    Black Brunswicker

Actually I think that the Brunswickers had little to do with the Prussians outside of the "Alliance". They were more closely tied to the British during the Eighteenth and early ninteenth centuries. As to the art work, perhaps the lady has mixed loyalties. Brunswick was subject to Napoleon's...

    Uhlan9

I wouldn't bid on the Saxon helmet. Too many things look odd, from the liner to the visor and the mortarboard. Maybe an original that was very clumsily resurrected hard to say.

    Soldier Identification

No Siegel or Siegle in the 3GU in 1914. There was an Oblt Siegel in the 3rd Garde Artillerie Rgt. That would be a Field Artillery Regiment.

    French tank found

There used to be one sitting in front of the Alexandria Virginia Train Station. I'll have to check and see if it's still there.

    M1915 Tschapka on eBay

Comparing it to four 1915's in my office, I would make these observations... The mortar board looks roughly fabricated and lacks the Rabatte mounting holes on the underside of each corner The helmet lacks a round plate interior support as one finds in both the 1915 picks and Tsapkas. The...

    Tcshapka review

I would suggest that this Tsapka has never seen the other side of the Channel. It is just like one that I bought from England years ago when I was a practicing victim.

    Garde Uhlanen

How does the cover fit over the mortar board? Would you post some photos of the cover alone?

    M1915 Prussian Garde Uhlan Tschapka

All the M1915 Tsapkas I have seen with Garde type Wappen have had two oddities in common. They have not had a star and the prongs of the wappen were cut into the shell just above the grommeted holes.

    Ersatz Ulan Mark

I have one just like it that I bought quite some years ago. Same markings, etc only mine is Saxon. Oh yes, and just as fake.
