Austrian Feldgendarm, Eastern Front, March 1915

Marvellous photos! From my $120.00 Uniforms & Equipment of the Austro-Hungarian Army in world War One by Spencer Coil I got - squat. From my second-hand, $12.00 Men-at-Arms The Austro-Hungarian Forces in World War 1 I got this. "When on duty as Feldgendarmerie, they would wear a yellow /...

1871 84th Inf Reg Helmet Back from The Dead

Fantastic job =D> I would have been the guy selling the 'irreparable' helmet on Ebay rather than having the foresight to try to try a restoration on it. Amazing. - Brett

    KÜRASSIERE OR JÄGER ZU PFERDE?

Given the similarities between the two uniforms it's often hard to tell, unless your field of expertise is the cavalry in which case a mere glance is all that is required (right Marshall?). My money is on them being Cuirassiers.

HELP TO IDENTIFY A CUIRASSIER UNIFORM

1908 Feldgrau version of the coloured peacetime uniform. It was replaced by the 1910 tunic with stand-up collar and buttons down the front instead of hooks.

    Jäger-Regiment zu Pferde Nr.12 - Dragoon helmets

I kinda blew the budget on this one, so I might just hang onto it for a few days before I consider which charity to donate it to :-k

    Jäger-Regiment zu Pferde Nr.12 - Dragoon helmets

I agree Ron, I would have preferred these fellows in the steel helmets.

    Jäger-Regiment zu Pferde Nr.12 - Dragoon helmets

An interesting picture of some fellows from Jäger-Regiment zu Pferde Nr.12 wearing Dragoon helmets, owing to supply problems of their distinctive JzP helmets at the time. According to Kraus, they would not receive the blackened steel helmets until 1915. Jäger z. Pferd by drakegoodman, on Flickr

    Bavarians

I've had a few Bavarian postcards arrive in recent weeks and have decided to put together a small thread to show off what I believe to be one of the nicest of all the helmet plates. A group of Bavarian infantrymen from Kgl. Bayer. 18. Infanterie-Regiment Prinz Ludwig Ferdinand in the grounds...
