For me this one looks to be a war bond helmet with a spike base replaced and a JZP spike. After closer look I think it's a normal spike. Concerning the bavarian cockades : I don't know why but they are very rare. Bavarian helmets are very collected. You have more chance to have a bavarian helmet...

Cockades look like repro. And a prussian one on a baden.... The chinstrap looks good to me. 8)

It's not a problem for me too. I think this was done to acomodate the bandeau to the crossed helmet base on the small size helmet.

First impresion : looks like a solid one. I can't see something wrong. Bonus it's still cheap price. Go for it if you can. 8-)

The chinstrap and the feldzeichen are copy. The tschako looks very good to me. Can you tell us the price ?. Above 600 $ forget it, it's too high. Because due to the "war bond helmet" mint tschako are not rare in the US. Lucky guys... :-P

After asking the seller, It has been recovered in a barn in a small village near Verdun and never touched since. The classic story after all, may be true, may be not. Who knows ?. A very impressive relic, looks like a definitive "combat helmet". 8)

It's difficult to know, This helmet is particulary rare and expensive, so very well faked. The seller looks good. Wait and see. Regards,
