Thanks Steve...I had it in my mind to ask Ron to make a post with photos of his Grenadier as well. I have shown a wartime conversion in my post here which was done with care. I would expect a peacetime adjustment to be similar.

To clarify: the plates shown by Clovis are for the tin pickelhauben and nothing else. Your picture shows a leather helmet with grommet holes for the typical plate with soldered loops on the back.

I am not expert on these but overall, it looks good. The liner is certainly correct.

Another rare helmet purchased by one of our members at the Show. A special Bavarian fibre helmet with M15 fittings. I have never seen one of these before! :oops: This is in amazing condition considering what it is made from. Note the cloth reenforcement stitched around the entire one piece...

I have owned a couple of felts that still had their paper size and maker labels even after all of these years.

The typical felt problems are tears in the material and missing liners. This one did not have those issues so.....

Yes Le Francais always head to our tables! I sold one of them two helmets.

One other detail...the liner with square tongues is the older (1842-1880) style private purchase used before the ribbed silk was introduced in 1880.

I’m glad you guys have identified the seller as I had no clue…I just cruise the Show (2,000 tables) and shoot whatever I think might be relevant on this forum.
