Overall, the item looks original, but the hole between the wappen is disturbing.Remove the wappen and take a photo. Maybe it's a conversion from a different position?
Working time: 12 hours. I sewed with two needles. That's enough for today. It's very hard to sew when there's no sun and you have to work with indoor lighting, but what can you do when it's winter?
The inside of the skin was smeared with Vaseline. The outside was lubricated with black Bundeswehr shoe polish. Now the skin is soft. In two hours it will dry and be ready for installation.
I used a technique of filling in missing material using glue and ground leather.Nobody in their right mind fixes things like this. You have to be a bit crazy and have a lot of faith in success. There are still a few hours of work left.
Only the low price and love for Pickelhaube made me become a new owner.
It's good that the previous owner didn't repair everything with super glue. It'll be some fun.
John, thank you very much for your kind words! I no longer post my work so as not to bore people on the forum with the subject. On Saturday I finished some minor repairs for Sandy and now I am waiting for the package with the subject that is difficult for me. Have a nice day John.

The risk was high with such poor photos. I wasn't sure whether the tschapka was made of pickelhaube, and I've seen such modifications before.Additionally, there was no return and the seller did not write that it was original.
My first impression was the same, but I slept through the night and after drinking coffee in the morning I had an epiphany. It is most likely a fangschnur from a children's ulanka. Unfortunately, I do not have any comparison material.
