    Brett, that is way cool! Did you ever contact that fellow? He got the bluing a bit wrong on the Gewehr 88 action and bolt, but it is really a very nice figure. Maybe if I leave a few extra cookies for Santa? Hmmmn!

    Funny how monikers last the test of time. During the "Cold War" we still referred to Russian troops as "Ivan", just like the reverse side of your card.

    No telling without being able to read the collar dogs, or with the lack of a unit listed on the reverse. Their hats have the Landwehr Cross, that pretty much identifies them as Landsturm.

    Michelle He has Swedish cuffs and M1889 NCO ammo pouches, which were favored by pioniers (same as combat enginieers) & feld artillerie. Possibly Train (supply) troops also. As a civilian saddler, he would have been a good choice for troops that use horse drawn wagons. I know that isn't much help...
