Conservation of a Brass Pickelhaube after a recent buy

Ah that made me laugh, most collecting fields are compulsive whether we like it or not.....I'm a huge collector of a view different fields so that's why I laughed. Sometimes I just buy things to learn and then turn them over....do you suffer from that? I've enclosed that image. Aw wow...

Conservation of a Brass Pickelhaube after a recent buy

Thanks for those images. I mentioned after you asked that the holes have been widened by about 5mm so now assuming it may have had the plate above? Just to clarify the original holes have been widened.

Conservation of a Brass Pickelhaube after a recent buy

Hi b. loree Thank you and it's good to be here. Such a great amount of knowledge and experience here. I've only ever wanted one pickelhaube (I'm sure you've heard that before) and I waited some time for it to come along and since it arrived I noticed very quickly they're not like any other...

Conservation of a Brass Pickelhaube after a recent buy

Knowing brass it'll be back to the way it was in no time but I prefer them this way. I'm not in the habit of spending my time cleaning brass all day so I'll be leaving it. It did have 'brasso' white residue prior to me buying it so it had been cleaned previously.

Conservation of a Brass Pickelhaube after a recent buy

I'd like to thank all that have written here on how to conserve haubes as it made my job that little bit easier after buying my first Pickelhaube. I hadn't seen one in the flesh previously to taking delivery of this on Wednesday of this week, although I'd wanted one for a long time (they just...

    Wanting to Trade Pickelhaube Chinstrap

There's a few things I've done to some of my stanhelms over time that others wouldn't agree with but I've not conditioned a leather strap or liner as it's intricate part of the use however pickelhaubes in my opinion are an object of beauty and gleam, hence why I wanted to 'out-part' this strap...

    Wanting to Trade Pickelhaube Chinstrap

Hi Wojtek Thanks for your advise. When you say black paste, what is that? And there's a pickelhaube leather restorer? Yes it was off an M16 that I had and I knew when I bought them it wasn't the right chinstrap for a stanhelm. Wayne

    Wanting to Trade Pickelhaube Chinstrap

I have an unusual request where I have a well used Brass fittings Chinstrap and want the same but not so used. My only Pickelhaube is somewhat immaculate and this strap is not. Unusual I know but I don't expect much but thought I'd put it out there anyway....you never know.
